SLAC is a new institutional member of the Fusion Power Associates

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford University has become an Institutional Member of Fusion Power Associates (FPA). Professor Siegfried H. Glenzer, Director of HED science at SLAC, will be the Institute's representative to FPA.
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is the first institute demonstrating lasing of a free-electron laser in the hard x-ray regime producing the world-brightest x-rays. The Matter in Extreme Conditions (MEC) instrument https://lcls.slac.stanford.edu/instruments/mec at the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) combines this beam with high-energy and high-power lasers to enable unprecedented exploration of the high-energy density physics space. The mission of SLAC’s High-Energy Density science division https://heds.slac.stanford.edu is to develop this research area and to pursue fusion discovery science. Of particular interest are the areas of dynamic high-pressure physics, warm dense matter, relativistic laser-plasma interactions, and laboratory astrophysics.
LCLS is an Office of Science user facility and research proposals are invited from potential users worldwide.
